Left in a hurry: RT films inside abandoned US military base at Manbij, Syria (VIDEOS, PHOTOS)
15 Oct, 2019
An RT Arabic crew peeked inside the US compound in Syria’s Manbij, abandoned by the Americans just a few hours previously. Footage from the scene suggests the US troops were in a hurry, leaving behind hardware and personal items.
The troops pulled out of the base, located southwest of the northern city of Manbij, overnight and into Tuesday. The retreat follows the decision by the US President Donald Trump to withdraw American personnel in the face of the Turkish operation against Kurdish-led militias.
Just as the US troops withdrew, the Syrian Arab Army rushed to fill in the void they’d left. War correspondents followed, catching a rare insight into the secretive fortified compounds. The RT Arabic crew was among the first to get into the base, hidden inside thick gabion wall. Footage from the scene shows all its structures had been left in place, including personnel tents and huts.

US Withdraws From Syria With Tail Between Legs! Russian Troops Move In to Keep the Peace!
16 okt. 2019, Vesti News
American troops have left their military bases in Syria in the district near Dadat town and Um Mial locality and headed for Iraq. Syrian government forces have entered the districts abandoned by the US, and the contact line between the Syrian and Turkish armies is now controlled by the Russian military police. This fact is especially annoying for the American press. The New York Times and the Washington Post have published practically at the same time articles about Trump having just gifted American bases to Russians, de facto making Russia the only significant international mediator in the region.

Russia’s Balanced Diplomacy in Middle East on Rise as US War Policy Crashes
Finian Cunningham, RT, 15 Oct 2019
The timing is not merely coincidental. The shambolic policymaking of the Trump administration has thrown the Middle East into further chaos, while countries are increasingly viewing Russia as a source of stability.
The high respect afforded to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit this week to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates speaks of a new geopolitical reality in the region. Both countries are traditional US allies, but it is Russia that appears to be the one held in more regard.

Erdogan sets deadline on Kurds to leave Syria
RT, 16 oktober 2019
We’re heading into day eight of Turkey’s military offensive in North-eastern Syria. Tens of thousands of refugees have fled the area of Manbij after President Donald Trump ordered the pullout of US forces in northeastern Syria.
Ally of My Enemy is My Friend! Kurds Ask SAA For Help Against Turkish Invasion of N. Syria!
Turkish Armed Forces are trying to block a strategic highway along the Turkish border in the north of Syria, which connects the economic center, Aleppo, with another major city, Al-Hasakah. The assaults on Manbij and Kobane are at full tilt – that’s how Ankara tries to realize its plan to create a 30-kilometer (18-mile) “safe zone” ASAP. Its military operation, however, has already caused a negative reaction from the UN, NATO, and the EU.
Kurds Learned a Painful Lesson! This is What Happens When You Rely on Uncle Sam’s Support!
The Kurds’ fate invokes sympathy indeed. But at the same time, one should understand that, at some point, the Kurds in Syria somehow chose the USA as their ally rather than the President of their own country, Bashar Assad, or Russia which consistently helped free Syria from ISIS terrorists. The Kurds declined to hold talks with Assad and began coordinating their actions with the United States only. First, the USA used them as cannon fodder because the Kurds are good soldiers. For their service and loyalty, the Kurds hoped to found their own state with the help of the USA or at least to gain US support and protection. But in the end, the USA betrayed and dumped the Kurds. Who can the Kurds now complain to?
Checkmate in Syria as Damascus makes a deal with Kurds
Mon, 14 Oct 2019
President Trump was right again. According to a new Fox News piece published late Sunday evening, Kurdish forces negotiated a deal with Damascus to face off Turkey’s offensive. Russia is involved in the dealmaking as well.
The New York Times reported that the deal– which was announced Sunday evening– would enable President Bashar al-Assad’s forces to attempt to regain a foothold in the country’s northeast. The Kurdish fighters had few options after the United States abandoned them, and it had been anticipated they would turn to Assad’s government for support.
The Washington Post reported that the deal was reached after three days of negotiations between the Kurdish forces, Russian envoys and Damascus.
Die or ask the Syrian government to take them in: The Kurdish militias simply have no other options
RT, 15 Oct 2019
Tensions in eastern Syria are flaring, after Turkey launched its military operation in the country’s north-east. As Turks and their proxies advance, Kurds retreat, defending themselves – possibly right into the arms of Damascus.
The state of play
Turkish forces are targeting two areas, Ras al-Ayn and Tel Abyad. They have inched forward 10-15 km into Syrian territory towards Ras al-Ayn and are up to 30 km inside Syria on the way to Tel Abyad. They have even set up a foothold mid-way. The Turkish army wants to block the strategic M4 highway along the Turkish border, which links Syria’s economic capital Aleppo with its administrative center, Al-Hasakah, in the country’s north-east.
Turkey has deployed commandos, special ops forces, tanks and artillery. Its forces on the ground, all part of Operation Peace Spring, include 14,000 troops, 120 tanks, 230 armored combat vehicles and 240 artillery pieces.
Ankara’s campaign is also supported by the Free Syrian Army (also known as the New Syrian Army), which has been sent into the vanguard of the offensive by Turkey. That would put the total headcount at about 25,000 soldiers and officers. Most importantly, the ground troops are supported by five squadrons of the Turkish air force, with 12-18 sorties every day.
Washington’s Sum of All Fears: Kurdish Militants Cut a Deal with Damascus
Reports show the SAA’s arrival in these areas as being met with cheers from crowds – which is a public relations disaster for Washington and its Kurdish ‘Rojava’ nation-building project in northern Syria.

MI6’s Ex-Al-Qaeda Spy: Erdogan+Turkey Have Fallen Into a Trap Invading Northern Syria
We speak to former alleged MI6 spy in Al-Qaeda Aimen Dean about the Turkish invasion of Northern Syria controlled by Kurdish groups such as the YPG and SDF, why Turkey’s Erdogan has fallen for a trap, why Trump’s withdrawal from Northern Syria is to save NATO, how Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin are likely to respond to this development, what the future is for the Kurds in Syria, the Saudi Aramco oil facility attack and why he believes this to be a false flag perpetrated by the Saudis, nor Iran, the Iraq protests and why Western media isn’t covering them and more!
STATEMENT FROM THE TURKISH EMBASSY:
Operation Peace Spring has been launched to address Turkey’s legitimate security concerns, and is conducted in accordance with the right of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and resolutions of the UN Security Council on fight against terrorism.
It aims to ensure the security of our border, to neutralize the terrorist threat adjacent to our border, and to save the Syrian people from the oppression of terrorists.
The operation only targets PYD/YPG terrorist elements and their hideouts, shelters, weapons and vehicles. PYD/YPG is the Syrian offshoot of PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist organization also by the EU and NATO.
PYD/YPG does not represent all Kurds in the region. Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, PYD/YPG terrorist organization has oppressed and intimidated the local population, Syrian Kurds included, and forcibly displaced them. There are around 300.000 Syrian Kurds in Turkey who are not able to return to Syria. The crimes which PYD/YPG committed have been documented by independent international organizations. Therefore, the operation is also in the interest of the people of the region, including Syrian Kurds, Arabs and Christians.
We underline once again that this operation is not against the Kurdish people, it is against terrorist organizations.

The Kurds: The Most Famous Unknown People in the World | Stephen Mansfield | TEDxNashville duurt 17 minuten.
TEDx Talks
The Kurds are an ancient and noble people who are now the primary “boots on the ground” against ISIS in the Middle East. They are 35 million strong worldwide, the largest people group on earth without their own homeland. In this stirring talk, Stephen Mansfield tells the story of the Kurds and does so, surprisingly, through the lives of three women.
Mansfield’s latest book, The Miracle of the Kurds, is a timely introduction to the Kurdish people that reached bookstores just as Kurdish troops began standing heroically against the evils of ISIS in the Middle East. The book has been named “Book of the Year” by Rudaw, the leading Kurdish news service.

Syrian ceasefire ticks down: Erdogan travels to Russia to meet Putin and talk peace

With president Erdogan saying he will decide what to do next after the meeting in Sochi.
Putin and Erdogan face to face: What is the new plan for Syria?
Russian military police and Syrian servicemen will be deployed to northeastern Syria, while Turkey’s operation ‘Peace Spring’ will continue in a limited area, presidents Putin and Erdogan have agreed after lengthy talks.
Moscow understands the reasons behind the ongoing Turkish military incursion into Syria, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said, though he stressed it must not play into the hands of terrorists and that the territorial integrity of Syria must be preserved. Ultimately, the country must be freed from all “illegal foreign military presence,” the president added, reiterating Moscow’s long-time position.
The almost-seven-hour-long talks in Sochi, Russia between Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan were focused on the situation in Syria, particularly the ongoing offensive in its northeastern region.

Syria: Assad accuses US of ‘supporting terrorism’ in rare interview duurt 53 minuten.
11 november 2019, Ruptly
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad accused the US for ‘supporting terrorism’ in an exclusive interview with RT in Damascus, aired on Monday.
In his first interview in more than a year Assad said that it was necessary to express his position as ‘the public opinion in the world, and especially in the West has been shifting during the last few years.’
“Officials have said so many lies about what’s going on in the region, in the Middle East, in Syria, in Yemen. They know that was a lie,” said Assad.
He said that the interests of Syria were different from those of the US. Assad stressed that while Syria is ‘killing terrorists in order to protect civilians, not leaving those innocent civilians under the rule of terrorists and killed by terrorists’, the US is pushing through the political process that it ‘couldn’t get through demonstrations first, and through terrorism later.’
Assad said that al-Qaeda was ‘a proxy’ against the Syrian, Russian and Iranian governments, because even among the members of the volunteer organization White Helmets, which has the support of the British government, as well as the funding of the American president are ‘the same faces.’
‘The same one in the White Helmets was a fighter with al-Qaeda’ and ‘the same one who has been beheading, or cutting head, and one of them was eating the heart of a soldier,’ said the Syrian president.
