Gaddafi MUST watch – predict his end and Al Assad laughs

Back to school soon in Libya – I’m excited!

Schools here are pitiful… sad….. depressing…. and I’m just talking about the schools in the capital. I keep reminding my kids to count their blessings because the schools outside of the capital are much worse.
Some schools don’t even exist anymore as they were damaged or obliterated during the war. Some Libyan kids don’t have homes or towns to go back to – many internally displaced refugees are living in camps with schools set up in tents.

Libya About To Burst Into Another Civil War, Militias Mobilize, Block Key Oil Ports, Tripoli Under Siege

Wednesday, August 21, 2013 13:19

Tripoli is braced for armed confrontation and threat of a coup as rebels mobilise across the country and blockade key oil ports.

Fears are growing in Libya of an Egypt-style standoff between the ruling Muslim Brotherhood and opposition forces, with rebels blockading key oil ports and the capital, Tripoli, braced for armed confrontation.

Leaders in the provinces of Cyrenaica and Fezzan are considering breaking away from the centre with rebel militias mobilising across the country.

The situation is super tense, more intense than even I knew. That is ecause the US media isnt telling you jack. They want you to think democracy reigns there now and maybe in la la land it does but not here in reality. In reality the place has become the fiefdoms of warlords.

Libya on the verge of civil war again

Libya: mounting divisions

21 augustus 2013

With upheaval in neighbouring Egypt producing ripples in Libya, Tripoli faces fresh political divisions while Cyrenaica moves further towards formal autonomy.

Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan announced this week that he had reached understandings with the General National Council (GNC), the highest constitutional authority in the country, over the formation of a miniature crisis cabinet to contend with the deteriorating security situation in the country. Its members will consist of the ministers of interior, defence, foreign affairs, finance and the military chiefs-of-staff.

Since the events of 30 June 2013 in Egypt, with respect to which official Libyan opinion has voiced conflicting views, tensions and violence in Libya have soared, especially in Benghazi, which is located in the region of Cyrenaica, adjacent to the Libyan border with Egypt. Major incidents include the attack on Al-Koeifiya prison, the largest prison in the east, leading to the escape of all its inmates, and the attack on the psychiatric hospital in Benghazi’s Al-Hawari district, leading to the release of all its patients.

Other parts of eastern Libya are gripped by instability and security breakdown, especially the city of Derna. Located in the Jebel Al-Akhdar region, 350 kilometres east of Benghazi, this city has become notorious as a jihadist stronghold and has been the site of more than 65 political assassinations. The official security presence is sparse in this city in which is located Libya’s largest camps of jihadist militants. The most frequent victims of assassinations and assassination attempts at the hands of these extremists are the security officials appointed by Derna’s interim municipal government.

Libya requests Interpol aid after mass jailbreak leaves over 1000 dangerous prisoners on the loose

Syrian Rebels Manufactured Chemical Weapons Outside Damascus

By Fahim al-Surani

August 25, 2013 “Information Clearing House – “Voice Of Russia” –

The Syrian military have discovered a warehouse with chemical agents in a suburb of Damascus. Correspondent of the Al-Ihbariya Syrian information channel Yara Saleh who was among the journalists who inspected the site of the scary find has given an exclusive interview to The Voice of Russia. She says that the discovered warehouse was at the same time a laboratory where shells were stuffed with poisonous chemicals.

The Syrian military found chemical weapons in the rebels’ tunnel located in the Jobar suburb of Damascus. Later the Syrian state TV showed the discovered poisonous agents and medical drugs.

    Libya and Its Contexts

The Libyan campaign not only caused extensive death and human rights violations, but it may usher in decades of more war.

    By Greg Shupak

September 04, 2013 “Information Clearing House – Liberal interventionists thought they had this one. Their doctrine had seemingly triumphed in Libya. Not only were the usual suspects, the Christopher Hitchenses, the Bernard-Henri Levys, peddling the notion that NATO could be a global constabulary for the enforcement of human rights, but more careful commentators like Juan Cole and Gilbert Achcar had also backed Western intervention. If NATO’s war in Libya has now lost some of its initial luster, it is primarily because the murder of US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other Americans brought worldwide attention to the nature of the forces the war unleashed and to the chaotic state in which Libyans now find themselves.

But the shine was, from the start, an illusion

Libya’s oil exports plunge, production 10 percent of pre-war levels as government’s woes grow

TRIPOLI, Libya — Libya’s prime minister faced increasing calls for his ouster on Saturday as strikes by government employees at oil export terminals cost the North African country more than $5 billion in losses.

Bilqasim Shindeer el-Shibany, a board member of Libya’s National Oil Corp., told The Associated Press that oil exports almost entirely have stopped. Late last month, officials said exports were around 300,000 barrels per day, down dramatically from pre-war levels in early 2011.

Adding to the government’s woes, the capital, Tripoli, has been hit with water cuts for three days and electricity outages for the past few months that last around four hours daily.

Look at ‘Liberated’ Libya and Despair

Libya in Anarchy Two Years after NATO Humanitarian Liberation

Libya is an artificial state like much of the Middle East and Africa, carved out in the colonial era of World War I by Italy. It is ruled by tribal consensus among numerous tribes. Qaddafi was chosen in a long process of voting by tribal elders that can take up to 15 years I was told by one expert. When he was murdered and his family hunted, NATO forced rule by a Muslim Brotherhood-dominated National Transitional Council (NTC).

Now in August a new Assembly was elected dominated again by the Brotherhood as in Morsi Egypt or Tunisia. Sounds nice on paper. The reality is that, by all accounts lawless bands, armed for the first time during the war with modern weapons, including foreign Al Qaeda and other jihadists are carrying out daily bombings across the country for local control. Tripoli itself has numerous armed gangs controlling sections of the capitol. It is turning into an armed battle between local tribal millitias that are forming and the Brotherthood that controls the central government. Leaders in the provinces of Cyrenaica and Fezzan are considering breaking away from Tripoli and rebel militias mobilizing across the country.

    Post-Intervention Libya: A Militia State

    By Richard Falk

October 13, 2013 “Information Clearing House

There is no doubt that Libya is so pervasively armed that even the National Rifle Association might find excessive. Supposedly, every household is in possession of weapons either acquired by raids on Qaddafi arsenals as his regime was collapsing or acquired from NATO benefactors. Unlike several of the other countries experiencing a troubled aftermath to the Arab Upheavals, Libya is a rich economic prize, with the world’s fifth largest oil reserves generating a cash flow that could be a boon to the troubled economies of Europe that carried out the intervention, and have acted subsequently as if they have an entitlement to a fair market share of the economic opportunities for trade and investment.

  • mr. drs. Bou:

    Libya Is a Failed State

The interim government cannot manage this crisis. It’s already been forced to compromise, agreeing in September to a 20 percent wage hike across the board for civil servants, and including oil security forces in this mix. At the same time, the government has issued warrants for the arrest of strike organizers in the east.

While the government will not be able to enforce these warrants, the blowback for this will still be severe and will result in a violent upheaval unlike anything else in the past two years. This will reverberate throughout the already volatile Sahel region, threatening security in Tunisia and Algeria most immediately. It is also leading to a tightening of world oil supplies.

Libya almost Imploding, Status Quo Unsustainable: Oil Industry Target of Violent Attacks

    Global Research, November 13, 2013

Libya’s oil industry has become the target of violent attacks and civil protests, closing export terminals in east and west or/and creating an oil black market. “Security guards” at the country’s main ports are on strike and selling oil independently in spite of a 67% in pay for employees of the state oil sector on last Oct. 31. Libyan oil minister, Abdulbari Ali al-Arousi, told the Financial Times on last April 29 that disruptions to production and export cost the country about $1bn over the previous five months only.

Total Blowout Expose: The Truth of Libya (Finally) Goes Mainstream

Posted on June 29, 2014 by Freewill

Sadly, it is unlikely that any of the parties responsible for the criminal and shameful war on Libya will ever be held to account for their crimes in a courtroom. However, they can be held to account in the court of public opinion. Their institutions must be discredited. Their names and faces must be known and repeated the world over.
They all share responsibility for the misery inflicted on the innocent people of Libya. And we who have stood against this war from the beginning, we have been vindicated. Unfortunately, there is no solace to be found in a Libyan graveyard.

Regarding his campaign in Benghazi, Hafter claimed that it would continue until “Benghazi is purged of terrorists,” and that, “we’ve started this battle and will continue it until we have reached our goals. The street and the Libyan people are with us.” Hafter’s sentiments echo those of Muammar Qaddafi in 2011, only then, the Western media denied the existence of terrorists that had been based in Benghazi for decades and portrayed Tripoli’s operations there as a “massacre” of “peaceful pro-democracy protesters.”
